    • @DoctoredGarage
      @DoctoredGarage День назад

      Sort of - the rear spring adjuster do sit kind of up in the body and they're hard to get to. Usually I'll unbolt the shock bodies from the axle and lower the whole axle down to adjust ride height

      @DoctoredGarage okay I've got a set of aimgain coilovers that I've never been able to get any instructions on and I just wanted to know if the fronts were going to be a super paying adjusting the height. They're going on a 2002 Infiniti Q45 or what they call a Nissan F50

      Unfortunately I don't have an exact answer on that - it'll depend on the RPM, engine displacement, volumetric efficiency of the engine, etc. I would say that as long as they all match with flow - that's the important part.

    Purchased an Altezza with the supercharger installed and I intend to take it off. Would I need to buy a new alternator mounting bracket? Any input on how difficult it would be to return to stock? And what I would need?

    • @DoctoredGarage
      @DoctoredGarage 8 дней назад

      With the popularity of the BEAMS swap in the AE86 community, I'm sure it wouldn't be hard to find all the parts to return to stock. There is an alternator relocation/retrofit kit that changes the alternator and bracket, somebody probably has the bracket sitting around

    Im looking at y38 brz frs diffs for my is300 auto, for the 4.1 and torsen. I do have a disability and its my daily driver. Do I Need solid rear subframe bushings or can i still run the old bushings. I still need to redo front suspension with oem. Have you also ever seen a left hand mounted handbrake anyone uses, thinking of handbrake solutions outside of buying a rhd car

    • @DoctoredGarage
      @DoctoredGarage 8 дней назад

      The torsen diff will be a pain for drifting. I'd just weld the open diff if I were you. I would go for poly bushings over solid ones, but you could still use the OEM bushings as long as they're in good condition. I haven't seen a left hand mounted handbrake in a LHD car. Hydraulic handbrakes can easily be mounted wherever and the lines ran to them. I would think mounting it to the door somehow would probably be best, that way you don't have a handbrake in the way when you get in and out of the car. Or you could mount a "pull up" handbrake down low next to the seat, sort of like the original GT40 shifter location.

Please help ! Thanks😯🤷😊👍🇺🇸

    • @DoctoredGarage

      If this isn't a race car that needs a fuel cell, I would just order a used tank off eBay or go to a junkyard and pull one. You can likely swap your fuel level sender and fuel pump hanger from the original tank to the new one. The radium fuel cells can come with a fuel level sender, but it may or may not read correctly for your fuel gauge. Your car is old enough that the fuel pump and everything should wire up just fine and work like the original without an issue - other than the fuel gauge.

    I don't own an AE86, but I'm here to support since you've helped me out with my Altezza a bunch via your information. Altezza BEAMS compressors are no longer in production according to Toyota. If someone in the US could get a BEAMS compressor to Denso USA, I'm sure there is a updated version available. Worst case scenario, the pulley may need to be swapped. Same goes for the alternator. I've browsed through their website and have seen quite a few that are close, but they do not list measurements. From personal research, John Deere, Mitsubishi Pajero/Montero and Mercedes Benz all have used the same compressor with different pulleys in cars outside the US. I've tried contacting Denso USA via Email regarding the compressor but the representative was not familiar with the Altezza Compressor for obvious reasons. I'm actually contemplating sourcing one in the US, even if it doesn't work, just so that I can send it to them to have them verify a replacement model that fits. That way the community can benefit from knowing there are replacements out there. Part numbers and all. As a side note, the XV20 Camry that came with the 5S-FE looks like it would fit (why wouldn't it? It's an S series engine). But the pulley arrangement and a/c lin3 fitting angles may be different. Can't say for sure. But if it did, that'd be great because Camry parts are all over the place. Here's the information to Denso USA: maps.app.goo.gl/7kf1Cc27oGfdteWh7 Also, regarding alternators, there are 2JZ and 1NZ adapter kits available for the BEAMS engine. The problem is that there needs to be adequate amperage. The 1nz is actually lower at 80Amps vs 90amps ont he stock BEAMS 3S-GE. Going to aftermarket high output alternators are a hit and miss ass most companies that sell high output alternators do not send a dyno graph sheet to confirm the output to rpm specs. This that do make high quality high output alternators, charge a great fee as well. But what if you can get a decent amp with proven OEM reliability, that's able to be rebuilt with OEM parts? Well, 2JZ guys have been upgrading to the 2004 Sequoia 150 AMP alternator for years. All that's required is a connector repin and a little shaving of one of the mounting points. The pulley should be easily swapped from BEAMS alternator over to the Sequoia alternator, in theory. And if 2JZ guys can swap to the Sequoia alternator, and us BEAMS guys have 2JZ bracket options, theoretically we should be able to have that option as well. Better electric power for more stable ECU and accessory performance. Andnthose Sequoia alternators are probably all over junk yards in the US just laying there. Aspwholesale.com sells all the alternator and starter rebuild parts you'll ever need. The BEAMS 3S-GE starter is the same internally as other JZ and 4runner OSGR 1.4 starters. Rebuild parts also available via aspwholesale, for anyone who can't source a BEAMS starter. Rebuilding them is pretty easy, once you learn how to diagnose them. Usually it's the plunger and it's contacts that fail. Javebyet to see a worn brush on of these. Easy sub 20$ fix. Hope this helps and thanks @doctoredgarage for doing God's work.

    amazing video man! for anyone wanting oem ac this is a very nice video! Im going an alternate route the 4ac crowd has went eletric ac system, still have to run a condensor, fan, dryer bottle, and an electric compressor so we dont have to run a belt or anything else. also they sell r-12 again on amazon its environmental atmosphere safe!

      I hope it works out for you! I looked into the electric AC compressors myself, and the problem i came across is that they're pretty weak and you have to have a really strong alternator. That might still end up giving you a high load on the belt - it'll just come from the alternator instead of the AC compressor.

    Hi great info Am in the process of installing a beams into my ae86. I got a fuel cell of eBay but need to use an external fuel pump, any recommendations on what pump and filter should I use? Requires need your help here

      I haven't had good luck with inline pumps. The longest life I've gotten out of one was an AEM, but if I were you I would buy the hanger to put the pump into the fuel cell. I have another video on my channel talking about it

    Why would a fuel cell need ventilation while a standard basic gas tank doesn't?

    • @DoctoredGarage
      @DoctoredGarage Месяц назад

      Standard gas tanks vent through the evaporative emissions system, it just vents through a charcoal canister to the intake of the car :)

    So I have the bgrs rear setup and feel like it bottoms out too much and rolls a bit too much do you think it’d be wise to put a Cusco or the likes rear swaybar on it? Or upgrade both? Or think it’d cause too many other issues? Thanks!

    • @DoctoredGarage
      @DoctoredGarage Месяц назад

      I run the cusco sway bar with it and like it. I've never bottomed out with this setup and I do some pretty aggressive driving, so I'm not sure exactly what it is you're experiencing. Make sure you remove the spring bump stops as well as the pinion bump stop on the chassis in the middle. Those are common places to hit I think
